Akshay Kumar to Star Opposite Megan Fox in ‘Shaukeen’
Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar will romance ‘Transformers’ star Megan Fox in the remake of 1982 film ‘Shaukeen’.Earlier Nargis Fakhri was roped in to play the lead role but the ‘Rockstar’ actress opted out of the film as the dates were clashing with the Hollywood film which is offered to her by director Paul Feig.
And now, the makers have finalised Hollywood actress Megan Fox for the role.
“In the first week of March, Akshay, along with filmmaker Abhishek Sharma, had travelled quietly to Los Angeles to finalise the deal with Megan’s team. It won’t be a forced casting at all. In fact, she fits the role. The girl’s role is of an Anglo-Indian, who speaks with a thick accent. And that’s why Megan is perfect for the part,” an insider said.
Several names such as Shraddha Kapoor, Sunny Leone and Lisa Haydon were doing the rounds for the lead role but finally, Megan Fox has signed the dotted lines.
The film, which is the remake of 1982 film ‘Shaukeen’ will be directed by ‘God Tussi Great Go’ fame Rumi Jaffrey and Akshay Kumar will reprise the role of Mithun Chakraborty in Basu Chatterjee’s comedy.
Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher have been cast as the three old men.
The characters of Akshay and Megan have been rewritten for the remake version.
In the original movie actors – Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal – were shown as attracted to the much-younger Rati Agnihotri in Shaukeen.
The shooting of the film, reportedly to be based in Thailand, is expected to begin from later this year.
