The
New York Auto Show isn't one of the most high-profile events on the
motoring calendar, but that doesn't stop it being a great showcase for
all that the world's car manufacturers have to offer.
The 2014 event gave a number of exciting new cars their public debut, including BMW's M4 Convertible and X4, the Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition and the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe. Land Rover even presented a concept car vision of how the next Discovery will look.
We were there to see the car world's latest and greatest up close. Here's our pick of the show.

BMW
revealed its first-ever M4 Convertible in New York, but it's a pretty
familiar proposition, being a direct replacement for the outgoing M3
Convertible.
Using the same twin-turbo six-cylinder engine as the M3 saloon and M4 coupe, it produces 431hp and will hit 60mph from a standstill in 4.4 seconds. It goes on sale in the UK this summer.

BMW’s
relentless drive to create and fill every conceivable niche continues
with the X4, which made its production car debut at the show.
Very much an X6 in miniature it’s slightly less showy and aggressive than that car, but has very similar proportions.
It’s based on an X3, with an all-but-identical dashboard and front end. There’s decent headroom in the back, despite the rakish roofline, but access to the rear is a bit tight and the boot isn’t that big. You really have to like those looks to choose one over an X3, we’d say.
