IBM is expected to announce later today that it has won a 5-year
multi-million dollar outsourcing contract from Bharti Airtel.
Sources in the company said it is an extension of the 10-year relationship that the two have had, under which IBM took over the management of Bharti's IT infrastructure and worked to transform its processes and integrate channels.
The original contract, signed in 2004, had come up for renewal. There have been reports that Bharti has been planning to reduce the portion of the outsourcing contract to IBM and move some of the work to TCS and Tech Mahindra. But sources in IBM said its contract value had not suffered in the renewal. This, however, could not be confirmed officially from the company.
