‘American Idol’ Recap: Heartbreaking Elimination For A Favorite To Win

On the April 10 ‘American Idol’ results show, America cut the contestants down to the Top 7, and with no judges’ save, it’s officially curtain call for one unlucky contestant — and we’re SUPER mad about who’s getting sent home!

Since Sam Woolf got the save last week, on the April 10 episode of American Idol, the vote is officially down to America’s choice — and we are NOT HAPPY about it because one of our absolute favorites got sent home. Read on to find out who won’t be moving forward into the Top 7, and tell us if you will join us in cheerfully burning down the earth.

‘American Idol’ Recap: A Season Favorite Gets Eliminated

For about 49 minutes, the Idols participate in a segment where everyone tries to make Ford Focus happen.
Caleb Johnson is safe. Jessica Meuse and Dexter Roberts are also safe.

CJ Harris is in the bottom two. He’s been in the bottom a lot — he’s talented enough, but his performances are often unmemorable. While last night’s performance of Tom Petty‘s “Free Fallin’” was spectacular, it might not have been enough to keep him in America’s favor.

Y’all, let me just say that there is nothing I appreciate less than Randy Jackson‘s commentary during these results shows. He’s supposed to be a mentor, and he just craps all over perfectly great performances the night after they happen — like Malaya Watson‘s. A mentor’s role is to guide and to provide constructive criticism in a safe space — not to shoot their mentees down in a talking head in front of a camera. Get outta here. Randy, come on. It’s just not helpful during a results show. If somebody whose performance you didn’t feel was up to par got cut, would your commentary at this point have accomplished anything?

‘American Idol’ Recap: Malaya Watson Gets Sent Home

MALAYA IS GOING HOME. BURN THE PLANET UNTIL ONLY EMBERS REMAIN. Clips of Malaya and her AMAZING performances are being shown and I am so mad about this. America, you and I are done.
There is nothing more cruel than making eliminated singers perform. As she started her performance of “I Am Changing” by Jennifer Hudson, Malaya seemed like she was going to cry, and Jennifer Lopez alternated between looking like she was about to cry herself (par for the course at this point) and looking deeply regretful that she couldn’t do anything to save Malaya. This! Sucks! Right as Malaya sang “Nothing’s gonna stop me now” she totally started to cry and could barely get out the “now.” Awful.
Malaya, we love you. You’re a beautiful snowflake and a true original and incredibly talented, and you’ll go far. Finish high school and go get yours — you are too precious for this world and for this competition.
